" Hear our prayer  O  Lord for animals that are overworked, underfed and cruelly treated;  for all wistful creatures in captivity that beat their wings against bars;  for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry;  for all that must be put to death, and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words."   Albert Schweitzer

PRAYER OF A STRAY

Dear God please send me somebody who'll care!    I'm tired of running, I'm sick with despair.

My body is aching, it's so racked with pain.    And Dear God I pray as I run in the rain,

"That someone will love me and give me a home.    A warm cozy bed I can call my own.

My last owner neglected me and chased me away.    To rummage in garbage and live as a stray.

But now God I'm tired and hungry and cold.    And I'm afraid that I'll never grow old.

They've chased me with sticks and hit me with stones.   While I run in the streets just looking for bones!

I'm not really bad God, please help if you can.    For I have become just a  "VICTIM OF MAN! "

I'm wormy Dear God and I'm ridden with fleas and All that I want is an owner to please!

If you find one for me God, I'll try to be good I won't run away and I'll do as I should.

I don't think I'll make it too long on my own, Cause I'm getting so weak and I'm so all alone.

Each night as I sleep in the bushes I cry, Cause I'm so afraid God, that I'm gonna die!

And I've got so much love and devotion to give, that I should be given a new chance to live.

So Dear God  PLEASE,  PLEASE answer my prayer and send me somebody who WILL really care...

Adapted from John Quealy Prayer of a Stray

Adorable KODI, a street stray at 2 months old, where were his owners?  The day he was to die at the shelter?  We saved him.   What a doll!

Owner Surrender Application

Happy Tails Rescue accepts spayed & neutered Owner Surrendered Rottweilers on a space available basis, often there is a waiting list.    We hope you have already tried all alternatives for suitable placement with family members and friends.  Your dog believes he is part of your family and will be confused and hurt when you give him away, we encourage you to keep your dog and are happy to help with advice or referrals.

Some shelters accept Rottweilers and others do not.   Those that do normally charge you an  "intake fee. "   At the shelter your dog will know fear, stress, hunger, thirst and often even physical abuse and may be killed because of failing absurd   "temperament tests"  which we consider inappropriate under any circumstances in a strange, stressful environment.

At Happy Tails your dog will be cared for and appropriately placed with exceptional people who have been approved for adoption and have signed our Adoption Contract.    Our commitment to each Rottweiler we rehome is forever.    Some Rotts are with us a short time and others may be with us a very long time, there are expenses, time and energy associated with accepting your dog and our commitment to him for his natural life.    No one will be turned away because of a financial hardship, your appropriate donation to Happy Tails for accepting your Rottweiler is considered a gift and is tax deductible.

We're grateful for the following generous contributions, and ask you to open your heart toward helping with our efforts too.  Small amounts add up quickly!  Unlike the financial wealthy humane societies we do not have tens of thousands of contributors, unlike them none of our dogs will be killed, your donation to them is just one of tens of thousands, your donation to us truly makes a difference.

Michelle Lowry and Mike  Kind hearted financial contributions and TONS of Dog Biscuits, food, love and energy!  Happy Tails is blessed to have these good people in our lives, without them many senior Rotts would have been killed.    Instead Mike & Michelle, just invite one more elder Rott into their hearts and homes where they are spoiled and loved to their last breath.  Michelle is particularly gifted at rounding up emergency dog food when we really, REALLY are running low.  Michelle and Mike also helped with 3 winter transports to Canada when we rescued 12 filthy, starving, unsocialized Rotts out of British Columbia.   Mike & Michelle are proud to share their home with multiple dogs, so if you think you're alone, you're not.

Liz & Ken Kimble of Caldwell Idaho....multiple Rotts share their home.  Gosh, most of the Idaho Rotts come because Liz and Ken have found them first and help network to get them into rescue.  How many times Liz and Ken have driven from Idaho and met us along the way to deliver dozens of buckets, blankets and othe provisions.  Liz even came and helped take photos one time, that was a hot, dusty ordeal, and I'm sure she could have been doing many other things, we are very grateful for their continued help and support.

Gail O'Connel Babcock with Watchdog  For continual support and helping extract Rotts from the legal system.

Robert Babcock attorney  Who is a tireless crusader, helping people and their animals.  He & Gail have truly saved animals lives and have gone against the system to get them out of jail.

Rebekah Lu attorney  For helping put together the aggravating forms that helped us get our 501c3 non profit status!  She's also considered our fund raiser and are trying to intice her to write grants for us!

Sheila Lalim  For her kind contribution to donate for our 501c3 application.

John & Carol Langsford, Aloha, Oregon    ( proud parents of Max)  Lots and  LOTS  of dog food!  Newsletter creation & design, continued care giving & aggravation of friends and business associates to participate!  Carol and John really went insane and gave Happy Tails a new HP digital camera and new color printer!  This one actually clicks quickly so we don't just capture the tail!  They are the proud parents of 4 of our Rotts, Max, Magunda, Precious & Little Bear.  Some go to work with dad, others just wait for mom to come home so she can prepare delicious goodies for them.

Bill & Elly Padnoe, Yakima, Washington    Selfless dedication to saving almost   861 dogs in 2002   and hundreds more each year and getting them into rescue groups.   For identifying suitable Rotties for us, and donations of leashes, bowls, dog houses and lots and lots and lots of dog food!  If we ever have an emergency Bill & Elly are there.  Elly and her daughter even drove to Canada for us, during the winter to help transport some very deserving Rotts to us.   Even soliciting Bill's brother to deliver all the way to Goldendale to deliver dog food on my doorstep!  Also rounding up dog bowls, dishes, leashes and several wonderful, much needed dog houses, and truck loads of food!

Home At Last, The Dalles, Oregon    A rescue group with a successful story, not to busy to share food with us when available.

Old Dog Haven Rescue  Judith has contributed for some of our vet bills when we've had emergencies, and she has loaned equipment when we desparately needed it.

City of Goldendale  Tom Fitzgibbens, animal control for the city and county has shown his kindness and bravery and has actually pitched in and taken care of ALL of our dogs for a few days when we were called elsewhere.  A gentle spirit who always helps save animals lives and transports them to various rescue groups.

Dr Jean Cypher, Rowena, Oregon  Our kind hearted, gentle spirited and talented Vet, who keeps everybody in good health and handles Rotties that outweigh her!

Alpine Veterinary Hospital  Kind compassionate staff and vets with acupuncture expertise.

Helping Hands  A non profit Idaho rescue group, that has helped transport and save many dogs of all breeds and Rotties too!

Central Washington Humane Society  For caring enough to save hundreds of dogs with rescue cooperation and participation.

Sheila Lalim  For her kind contribution to donate for our 501c3 application.

City of Prosser  For cooperation with rescue groups to save lives.

Lisa Kim and Gary  proud parents of Rex, aka Trouble, Tyson, Sir Issac Fig Newton   Generous financial contribution for spay and neutering and for helping in emergencies.

Linda at Happy Paws Shelter  Who has never failed to help round up extra dog food when we truly are running short.

Susan Price of Night Song Rescue near Dayton Wa.  Susan is always willing to share her extra food when her 50 Malamutes aren't needing all of it, she helps pitch in and it's appreciated.

Linda Hallmark Portland Or  For being truly organic and holistic and helping out with little special needs Rotts that benefit from having hand prepared, delicious organic food that helps get them back on a healthy track.

PETCO  Every month, without fail, Steve Goodwin, the Distribution Manager of PETCO has helped challenge us by stuffing as much dog food as possible, from returned bags, into our crew cab with a canopy.   This helps Happy Tails fed exceptional high quality dog food' to all of our kids, not even to mention occasional beds, and Santa Steve is amazing at Christmas, all the toys that he comes us with is incredible....NOTE:  PETCO has since ceased all donations, cutting off all 62 rescues in the Northwest.  This continues to have a serious impact on everyone and has caused some shelters and many rescues to close their doors, we can only imagine how many dogs and cats lost their lives because of this.  The majority of Happy Tails food donations came from PETCO and we've yet to find a similar resource.  PETCO's new owners and managers apparently can't connect the dots of adopted dogs being new PETCO shoppers, spending on average $200.00 on their first visit.

Oregon Humane Society  Tanya Roberts is their trainer and has helped alert us to Rottweilers needing help.  OHS has also generously donated dog food, which has been appreciated.

Dozens of volunteers many we know, some we've met once at some rest area while transporting dogs to or from us, and many we've never met, that donate their time to arrange or participate in transportation across several states!
