Considering how often we wash our hair and in the questionable quality of the water do we really need to bombard ourselves with more synthetic chemical detergents when we shampoo? None of our Shampoos, Bars, Hair Washes or rinses contain any harsh or artificial chemicals or ingredients. They won't lather like detergents you use on your car, clothes or in commercial shampoos, but they will not strip your hair of natural oils, instead they will leave your hair feeling wonderful. Many of our shampoos are naturally formulated to help sooth flea & tick bites, but that doesn't mean you must have those distractions in order to enjoy the shampoos. The Tea Tree Oil is very beneficial and helps all minor scalp irritations and just has a very pleasant, cleansing aroma. If you prefer a formula without the Tea Tree Oil, just let us know and we'll be happy to accommodate you. Commercial shampoos are cheap, available in bulk just about everywhere and some of them even smell pretty good, or at least not too bad....so why pay extra for natural shampoo and just what is “natural shampoo” and what are the differences between commercial shampoos and natural shampoos?
If you're concerned about the health of your body, mind & spirit, then what happens to your skin is also critical to know what you're putting on your body's largest organ, the skin....and that includes the skin on your head. Anything applied to the skin will either benefit or harm you from the topical application of each ingredient in a product.. Your skin does not live in isolation from the rest of your body. If you think it does, take some freshly crushed garlic, rub it on the soles of your feet and have someone smell your breath in about 20 minutes!
So just what is Natural Shampoo? And more importantly is the shampoo you've been buying really shampoo or something else? Like everything else synthetic, people are discovering the truth about commercial shampoo. They are learning that the shampoo bars that fill the shelves are really synthetic detergents. Detergents are different from natural shampoos and are made from synthetic chemicals. Detergents were invented in 1916 in Germany. They contain harsh synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, fillers, binders, builders. colorings, dyes, preservatives, stabilizers, additives and a host of other substances that enable them to sit on shelves for years. Part of the advertising dollar to lure the consumer is spent on making these harsh chemical detergents and petroleum products sound more attractive, so they're often given attractive sounding names, great colors and synthetic smells.....please take a look at those labels...and see if you really want to apply those toyour head day after day and year after year.
So what is the difference between natural shampoo and a nice smelling detergent? Detergents strip your skin's natural oils by removing the natural moisturizing oils along with the soil. That's the reason your skin feels dry or itchy and uncomfortable after bathing. Grand marketing schemes often produce great results at the consumers expense, beautiful botanical names, wrappings and photographs will give every indication that a product is made with nothing but the freshest and best natural ingredients. Try pronouncing the ingredients on commercial detergent bars. Are they natural or synthetic?.... Natural handcrafted shampoos contain only pure and natural ingredients so the ingredients list on the label should be easy to pronounce, unless the Latin names are given. So, now you have discovered what commercial shampoo is. It's detergent, the same thing you wash your clothes or car with. Synthesized chemicals that are harsh, strip your natural oils, dry your skin and are unsuitable for personal skin care, while natural shampoos are made from natural oils and other natural ingredients., Handcrafted shampoo is made fresh, in small batches with attention to every detail. Most handcrafted shampoo makers are small family run businesses that are truly concerned about making a difference, enjoy the same things that you do, such as sustainable living, treading gently on our environment, not harming and creating good, ethically produced products. You can feel good about supporting such efforts! One point of clarification. Like many jumping on the organic band wagon, not all handcrafted shampoo uses all natural ingredients. Again, those beautiful names, nice packaging & great smells can really fool a lot of us..... but what do the labels say? Many handcrafted shampoos use fragrance oils, dyes, colorants, which are synthetic chemicals mixed together, often dozens or hundreds, to imitate a scent. Just smelling great is insufficient reason to use something synthetic. So now lets talk briefly about Essential Oils and Herbs vs. Fragrance Oils and Additives

Basically this is like rubbing herbal & botanically enriched
mud all over your hair and massaging it into the hair...no
lather, no synthetics, only super shiny hair. You might consider
alternating a regular shampoo with an Earth Hair Wash. Kaolin
or
China clay (white clay) is the mildest of all clays and is used
in cosmetic masks and soaps for sensitive skin as well as dry
skin. Does not expand with increasing water content. White Kaolin
clay is also used as a scent fixative. This is a fine, fluffy
clay that has natural absorbency properties and is frequently
found in powders, body packs, skin care products, and deodorants.
This produces a very sensual, earthy botanical aroma. Contains:
Water, Kaolin clay Essential oils of Jasmine, Patchouli, Cinnamon
Leaf, Sweet Orange, Lilac, Gardenia, Rose, Ylang, Ylang, Pear &

or China clay (white clay) is the mildest of all clays
and is used in cosmetic masks and soaps for sensitive skin as
well as dry skin. Does not expand with increasing water content.
White Kaolin clay is also used as a scent fixative. This is a

deodorants Horsetail
builds the immune, glandular, and nervous systems, plus skin,
coat, teeth, and nails. It helps in expelling parasites/worms and
is a diuretic, anti aging properties, helps prevent osteoporosis,
baldness, kidney stones, tendinitis. Very easily metabolized for
tissue repair & speedy recovery from joint and bone injuries,
including post surgical traumas, helps prevent bone degeneration,
maintains a healthy skin, hair and coat, and reduces senility.
Used in many hair and coat formulas or in salves to aid in tissue
regeneration.
This is a good choice if you
have particularly damaged hair. Kelp
Is
super rich in vitamins A, B, E, D, K & C, carotenes and
numerous minerals. Kelp is also a rich source of iron, potassium,
iodine, calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, silica &
zinc. Kelp can help to detoxify your skin and is a soothing,
moisturizing sea vegetable. Kelp helps to remove impurities from
the skin and restores elasticity, leaving the skin feeling softer
and more supple. Also said to be beneficial for treating some
skin disorders and easing rheumatism, arthritis and other aches
and pains.
Hibiscus
flower offers beneficial
